Happy November,
Now the holidays begin in earnest! You have to love Thanksgiving. First of all, how many times a year do YOU roast a turkey? Right. But oh, the smell of turkey and dressing is enough to make you woozy! And then the Christmas season lumbers toward us even as we cry, "I'm not reeeaaaaadddddyyyyy!" Then New Years Day finds us heaving a sigh of relief, and getting ready to start fresh in the new year.
Thanksgiving is my very favorite holiday. Last year I made a Blessings Box from one of our My Creations Cubes. I write things that I am thankful for throughout the year on slips of paper and store them inside. It's amazing how, when you're feeling down or a little put upon, reading a few of those "blessings" will turn you right around. On my very worst day I have, in this wonderful country, and through my amazing family and friends, so much to be thankful for. And I never want to forget that. And you can be sure that all my scrapbooking friends are counted as blessings in my life.
But enough about me. Let's talk about you and your memories. Are you getting them in your albums?

All Day Crop:
If you were not able to commit to our 3 day Scrapbooking Retreat at Camp Y'Shua, but would like to come out and spend all day Saturday (Nov 7) with us getting your layouts completed (what a lovely word), we have space for just a few scrapbookers that day only. We'll feed you lunch and dinner, you'll have a chance at some prizes, and the cost is only $30. You can work to your heart's content from 9 a.m. till 10 p.m.

It's the middle of October already and the holidays will soon be upon us. How about taking some time for a little fun before the madness begins?
3-Day Scrapbook Retreat - DEADLINE FAST APPROACHING:
Just a few seats left for our Scrapbooking Retreat. Come get caught up on all your scrapbooks. The cost is still $95. You will enjoy the rugged beauty of Camp Y'Shua, good food, good friends, and lots of scrappin' time.

We'll have contests, prizes, goody bags and workshops. Our grand prize this year is a Cuttlebug with accessories!
Here are the details:
- November 6-8, 2009
- 4 p.m. Friday - 3 p.m. Sunday
- Camp Y'Shua, Wichita Mountains
- $95 per person
- meals provided
- coffee, tea, water provided
- Payment due October 20th (no refunds after October 27th unless someone on the waiting list takes your place)
- Bring your own twin size bedding and towels
We are also planning a "scrapbook garage sale" during the noon hour on Saturday. Bring scrapbook or stamping items that you just don't use and for an hour we can browse and buy or swap!
A little bit about the lodge: The bunkbeds at the lodge are OK, but if you have an air mattress, you might want to bring it along. Be sure to bring twin-size bedding. Of course, dress is very casual, but bring sweaters or layers as we're all different "temperatures."
The main area of the lodge is very large. You will have your own table. You'll be able to leave your things out so you don't have to re-pack each evening.
Meals will be casual and home-cooked and we'll have fresh fruit available.
If you are bringing snacks to share, please let me know so we can plan accordingly.

Mount Scott Kiwanis Annual Fish Fry
OK--so it's not scrapbooking, but it is fun! The food is good and all the proceeds go to help various children's organizations in the area. I have advance tickets available--just give me a call and I'll bring them to you. Come join us for a great meal. Plan to come early for best seating.
